Data Center Operations Technician

Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and Operate Mechanical and Electrical Equipment: Ensure that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center operates at 100% availability.
- Assist in Root Cause Analysis: Collaborate with the team to identify and resolve equipment failures, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot Facility and Rack-Level Events: Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLA.
- Ensure Safety Procedures: Adhere to all safety procedures while performing work, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Take Daily Operational Readings: Record daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Work Rotating Shifts: Work a 12-hour shift (rotating 3 to 4 day work weeks) to support 24/7 operations.
- Walk Job Sites: Walk job sites in uneven terrain, ensuring safe navigation and equipment access.
- Work at Heights: Work at heights and from ladders, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Lift and Move Equipment: Regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unassisted and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.
- Coordinate Body Movements: Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
- Reach and Stretch: Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.
- Bend and Twist: Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working, adhering to safety guidelines.
- Perform Physical Tasks: Perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired, ensuring optimal performance and productivity.
- Work Extended Shifts: Work extended site rounds that could include long distances of walking and long periods of time being away from a desk.
- Use Hands to Manipulate Equipment: Use hands to manipulate small wires and objects, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
- Push and Pull Equipment: Push or pull heavy objects into position, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Work in a Noisy Environment: Work in a noisy environment, ensuring safe communication and collaboration with team members.
- Work Shifts Longer than 8 Hours: Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, covering both night and day shifts.
- Work at Depths: Work at depths, such as under raised floors, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
- Travel to Multiple Sites: Travel to more than one site location (travel less than 25% of time), ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
• In pursuit of or obtained Bachelor's Degree within a relevant field such as mechanical/electrical engineering OR
• In pursuit of or obtained certification from a Technical/Trade school program (HVAC, electrician, facilities maintenance, or similar)
• English language Proficiency, both written and verbal
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment, displaying strong time management skills.
• Experience in project or program Management
• Understanding of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls).
