Position: Postdoctoral Researcher in Translational Melanoma Research (Scholarship)

Are you passionate about advancing medical research?

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (scholarship) with a strong interest in melanoma biology and therapeutic approaches. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in tumor biology, with a preference for familiarity with tumor biomarkers in liquid biopsies, particularly those associated with extracellular vesicles (EVs). As part of our multidisciplinary research team, you will engage in clinical and translational studies focused on melanoma. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to independently acquire knowledge and contribute to ongoing projects.

Research Division

The research conducted within Hildur Helgadottir's group centers on malignant melanoma. A primary goal of our investigations is to identify biomarkers that predict therapy efficacy in sequential blood samples from patients with advanced melanoma undergoing treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors, either alone or in combination with radiotherapy, as part of the ongoing PROMMEL clinical trial.

Responsibilities

You will collaborate with the research group to establish a project focused on EV-associated biomarkers, aiming to elucidate their predictive capabilities in melanoma patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors and the potential influence of radiotherapy. Your role will involve designing and executing proteomic profiling using cutting-edge technologies on EVs derived from sequentially collected clinical liquid biopsies (primarily plasma) from melanoma patients, correlating findings with clinical outcomes following treatment. Additionally, you will perform proteomic profiling of plasma utilizing oncology-immunology panels and screen for circulating ctDNA to conduct comparative analyses with EV findings. You will be accountable for executing the planned project in alignment with established objectives.

Entry Qualifications

Scholarships for postdoctoral qualifications are available for international researchers who wish to further their qualifications in Sweden. The aim of these scholarships is to foster international collaboration and enhance research qualifications following the completion of a doctorate or equivalent.
A scholarship for postdoctoral research may be granted for a maximum of two years within a four-year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification.
To qualify for a postdoctoral scholarship, candidates must possess a doctorate or a foreign degree recognized as equivalent. Applicants who have not yet completed their doctorate by the application deadline may still apply, provided that all requirements for degree completion are fulfilled before the intended start date of the postdoctoral training.

The department head will assess whether previous training and scholarly qualifications align with the standards of a Swedish doctorate or higher.

Scholarship Type

Full-time contract with a scholarship for an initial twelve-month period, with the possibility of extension.
The scholarship amount is tax-exempt and is set for twelve months, disbursed biannually.
