The Department of Mathematical Sciences, a collaboration between the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology, stands as one of the largest mathematical sciences departments in the Nordic region, comprising approximately 200 staff members. The department is organized into three key divisions: Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Probability Theory, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

Position Overview: We are seeking a Lead Educator in Mathematics or Statistical Sciences who will assume a pivotal role in enhancing the department's collaborative efforts and contribute significantly to our goal of delivering education at the highest international standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the institution's collaborative initiatives
- Delivering undergraduate-level instruction in mathematics or statistical sciences
- Guiding students at both bachelor and master levels
- Engaging in departmental activities through administrative responsibilities
- Contributing to all departmental functions, including research and administrative tasks

Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as many responsibilities will involve teamwork.
Qualifications: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in mathematics or statistical sciences, or possess equivalent scientific expertise relevant to the position's subject matter and responsibilities. Documented teaching experience and proficiency in mathematics or statistical sciences at the university or college level are also required.
The primary language of instruction at the University of Gothenburg is Swedish, with undergraduate courses typically taught in Swedish and advanced courses in English. Proficiency in both oral and written Swedish and English is necessary.
A higher education teaching qualification of at least 15 credits or equivalent competence is essential for this role. If such qualifications are not available at the time of application, they must be validated or the required training completed within two years of employment commencement.
Assessment Criteria: Applications will be evaluated primarily based on pedagogical achievements and potential, experience in collaborative work, and leadership capabilities.
Special attention will be given to communication skills, the ability to foster long-term relationships, and networking proficiency. Candidates should demonstrate the capacity to inspire and guide team members, along with a strategic vision for advancing collaborative activities. Proven experience and a genuine interest in collaboration will be advantageous.
In evaluating pedagogical merits, emphasis will be placed on the ability to design and deliver courses effectively. Strong communication skills, the ability to engage and motivate students, and a sense of responsibility for one’s own tasks are crucial. Experience in teacher education is a plus.
For scientific qualifications, research contributions documented through publications will be considered, with post-doctoral research and international collaboration noted favorably.
