We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Lecturer in Mathematics or Mathematical Statistics to join our team at the University of Gothenburg. As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a key role in our department's work on collaboration and contribute to our ambition to teach at the highest international level.
Job Responsibilities:- Manage the institution's collaborative activities and develop new partnerships.
- Teach mathematics or mathematical statistics at undergraduate level and supervise students at bachelor and master level.
- Participate in the activities of the Department through administrative tasks and contribute to all the activities of the department, including research and administrative tasks.
You will have the opportunity to actively seek challenges and new opportunities to develop your work, with room for professional development and own research in accordance with the current working time agreement. Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential, as many of your tasks will be carried out in collaboration with others.
Qualifications:The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. We expect you to have a doctoral degree in mathematics or mathematical statistics, or equivalent scientific competence taking into account the subject matter of the position and the tasks involved. You are also expected to have documented teaching experience and skills in mathematics or mathematical statistics at university or college level.
Good oral and written language skills in Swedish and English are required, as the official language at the University of Gothenburg is Swedish and teaching is normally in Swedish at the bachelor level and in English at the higher levels.
Assessment Criteria:Applications will be assessed primarily on the basis of pedagogical merits and potential, experience of working with collaboration and leadership skills.
When assessing collaborative merits and leadership, special attention is paid to communication skills, the ability to establish long-term relationships, to be outgoing, creative, and skilled at networking. You will have the ability to inspire and guide team members and a strategic vision to further develop collaborative activities. Proven experience and a genuine interest in collaboration is an asset.
In the assessment of pedagogical merits, particular emphasis is placed on the ability to plan and teach courses in the subject area. It is important that you are able to communicate well in speech and writing, collaborate, inspire and engage students, and that you can take responsibility for your own work tasks. Documented experience of and interest in teaching in teacher education is an advantage.
In assessing scientific qualifications, attention will be paid to research documented through publications. Post-doctoral research and international scientific cooperation will be noted.
