The Department of Mathematical Sciences, in collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology, stands as one of the largest mathematical science departments in the Nordic region, boasting around 200 staff members. The department encompasses three divisions: Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Probability Theory, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

Position Overview: We are seeking a Lead Educator in Mathematics or Statistical Analysis who will take a pivotal role in enhancing the department's collaborative efforts and contribute significantly to our goal of delivering education at the highest international standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the institution's collaborative initiatives
- Delivering instruction in mathematics or statistical analysis at the undergraduate level
- Supervising bachelor’s and master’s students
- Engaging in departmental activities through administrative responsibilities
- Contributing to the department's research and administrative functions

Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as many responsibilities will involve teamwork.
Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in mathematics or mathematical statistics, or equivalent scientific expertise relevant to the position's subject matter and responsibilities. Documented teaching experience and proficiency in mathematics or statistical analysis at the university or college level are also required.
The primary language of instruction at the University of Gothenburg is Swedish, with undergraduate courses typically taught in Swedish and advanced courses in English. Proficiency in both oral and written Swedish and English is necessary.
A higher education teaching qualification of at least 15 credits or equivalent competence is required. If such qualifications are not available at the time of application, they must be validated or the required training completed within two years of employment commencement.
Assessment Criteria: Applications will be evaluated primarily based on pedagogical achievements and potential, experience in collaboration, and leadership capabilities.
When assessing collaborative and leadership skills, emphasis will be placed on communication abilities, capacity to foster long-term relationships, creativity, and networking skills. The ability to inspire and guide team members, along with a strategic vision for enhancing collaborative efforts, is essential. Proven experience and a genuine interest in collaboration will be considered advantageous.
In evaluating pedagogical merits, special attention will be given to the ability to design and deliver courses in the subject area. Effective communication, collaboration, and the ability to engage and inspire students are critical. Responsibility for one's own tasks is also essential. Experience in teacher education is a plus.
Scientific qualifications will be assessed based on research documented through publications, with post-doctoral research and international collaboration noted favorably.
For teaching roles, the candidate who demonstrates the best overall qualifications and potential for fulfilling the responsibilities of the position, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing positively to the organization will be favored. The overall assessment will also consider how the candidate's qualifications and plans enhance and complement the department.
