The Department of Mathematical Sciences, a collaboration between the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology, stands as one of the largest mathematical sciences departments in the Nordic region, boasting around 200 staff members. This department encompasses three key divisions: Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Probability Theory, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Lead Educator in Mathematics or Statistical Sciences who will play a pivotal role in enhancing the department's collaborative efforts and contribute meaningfully to our goal of delivering education at the highest international standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the institution's collaborative initiatives
- Delivering instruction in mathematics or statistical sciences at the undergraduate level
- Guiding students at both bachelor’s and master’s levels
- Engaging in departmental activities through administrative responsibilities
- Contributing to the department's overall mission, including research and administrative tasks

Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as many responsibilities will involve teamwork.
Eligibility Criteria:
Qualifications for academic roles are outlined in Chapter 4, Sections 3-4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Candidates should possess a doctoral degree in mathematics or statistical sciences, or equivalent scientific expertise relevant to the position's subject matter and responsibilities. Documented teaching experience and proficiency in mathematics or statistical sciences at the university or college level are also expected.
Proficiency in both Swedish and English, both written and spoken, is required, as the primary language of instruction at the undergraduate level is Swedish, while higher-level courses are typically taught in English.
A higher education teaching qualification of at least 15 credits or equivalent is necessary for this role. If such qualifications are not available at the time of application, they must be validated or the required training completed within two years of employment commencement.
Assessment Criteria:
Applications will be evaluated primarily based on pedagogical achievements and potential, experience in collaborative environments, and leadership capabilities.
Special attention will be given to communication skills, the ability to foster long-term relationships, creativity, and networking proficiency. The ideal candidate will inspire and guide team members while possessing a strategic vision for enhancing collaborative efforts. Proven experience and a genuine interest in collaboration will be advantageous.
In assessing pedagogical merits, emphasis will be placed on the ability to design and deliver courses effectively. Strong communication skills, the capacity to engage and inspire students, and accountability for one's responsibilities are crucial. Experience in teacher education is a plus.
Scientific qualifications will be evaluated based on documented research outputs. Post-doctoral research and international collaboration will be considered positively.
For teaching roles, the candidate who, after a comprehensive assessment of skills and development potential, is deemed best suited to fulfill the job responsibilities, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute positively to the organization will be selected. The overall evaluation will also consider how the candidate's qualifications and aspirations align with and enhance the organization.
