The Department of Mathematical Sciences, a collaborative effort between the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology, stands as one of the largest mathematical sciences departments in the Nordic region, comprising approximately 200 staff members. The department encompasses three key divisions: Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Probability Theory, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

Position Overview: We are seeking a Lead Educator in Mathematics or Statistical Analysis who can spearhead the department's collaborative initiatives and significantly contribute to our goal of delivering education at the highest international standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the institution's collaborative efforts
- Delivering instruction in mathematics or statistical analysis at the undergraduate level
- Guiding students at both bachelor and master levels
- Engaging in departmental activities through administrative responsibilities
- Contributing to all departmental functions, including research and administrative tasks

Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as many responsibilities will involve teamwork.
Qualifications: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in mathematics or mathematical statistics, or possess equivalent scientific expertise relevant to the position's subject matter and responsibilities. Documented teaching experience and proficiency in mathematics or statistical analysis at the university or college level are also required.
The primary language of instruction at the University of Gothenburg is Swedish, with teaching typically conducted in Swedish at the undergraduate level and in English at higher levels. Proficiency in both oral and written Swedish and English is mandatory.
A higher education teaching qualification of at least 15 credits or equivalent competence is required for this role. If such qualifications are not available at the time of application, they must be validated or the necessary training completed within two years of employment commencement.
Assessment Criteria: Applications will be evaluated primarily based on pedagogical merits and potential, experience in collaborative work, and leadership capabilities.
Special attention will be given to communication skills, the ability to foster long-term relationships, and a proactive, creative approach to networking. The ideal candidate will inspire and guide team members while possessing a strategic vision for enhancing collaborative activities. Proven experience and a genuine interest in collaboration will be advantageous.
In assessing pedagogical merits, emphasis will be placed on the ability to design and deliver courses effectively. Strong communication skills, the capacity to engage and motivate students, and the ability to take ownership of responsibilities are crucial. Documented experience in teacher education is a plus.
Scientific qualifications will be assessed based on research output, including publications, with post-doctoral research and international collaboration being particularly valued.
For teaching roles, the candidate deemed most suitable based on a comprehensive evaluation of skills and potential for development will be selected. This assessment will also consider how the candidate's qualifications and plans align with and enhance the organization.
