Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab Manager to oversee the smooth operation of our microbiology, molecular biology, and fermentation labs. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, and supporting the research team in their endeavors.
Key Responsibilities- Lab Management: Oversee the daily operations of the labs, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Safety and Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain safety protocols and guidelines, conduct risk assessments, and ensure a safe and clean work environment.
- Supply Chain Management: Coordinate with suppliers and service providers to negotiate agreements and discounts, procure instruments, and ensure their proper use, maintenance, and repair.
- Inventory Management: Organize and purchase chemicals and consumables, manage inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Research Support: Assist the research team in preparing stocks of media and reagents, preparing samples for analytics, and supporting QC/A activities.
- Logistics: Coordinate the shipment of materials and goods, and establish training protocols for new employees.
- Education: BSc or MSc in biotechnology, bioengineering, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience working in a research lab, preferably in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, fermentation, or a related field.
- Skills: Knowledge of standard laboratory safety regulations and practices, experience in safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and materials, and excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership and management experience, with the ability to work well with others and communicate effectively in both English and Swedish.
- Swedish Safety Requirements: Familiarity with Swedish safety requirements for microbiology labs.
- Lab Management Experience: Experience working as a lab manager.
- Research Experience: Experience with common methods and instruments used in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and fermentation research.
- Analytical Techniques: Experience with analytical techniques, such as GC-MS and HPLC.
- Innovative Environment: A dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment where you can grow your skillset and advance in your career.
