Job Description: Commercial Advisor

As a Commercial Advisor, you will be responsible for delivering commercial expertise to drive expected business value throughout the product life cycle. This will involve providing rigorous support for business cases, executing deals that achieve business objectives, and identifying opportunities to optimize ongoing relationships with external partners.

You will work closely with product leaders to define and secure business cases, drive strategic decision-making, and ensure alignment with business objectives. Your analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and pragmatic outlook will enable you to effectively manage complex procurement initiatives and negotiate with external partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Complex Procurement Initiatives: Lead and manage complex procurement initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and successful execution.
  • Negotiate with External Partners: Negotiate with external partners to secure advantageous terms, driving mutual benefit and growth.
  • Screen Potential New Partners: Screen potential new partners and collaborations relevant for the product area, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Work with Product Leaders: Collaborate with product leaders to define and secure business cases, driving strategic decision-making.
  • Establish Commercial Models: Establish relevant types of commercial models/cooperation most likely to serve the business case, driving revenue growth and profitability.
  • Define Strategic Parameters: Define and implement strategic parameters for the partner portfolio, ensuring optimal long-term management and governance.
  • Risk Management: Perform risk management for partner and vendor contracts and agreements, mitigating potential risks and ensuring compliance.
  • Challenge Existing Commercial Models: Challenge existing commercial model setups and suggest new commercial/contractual strategies, driving innovation and efficiency.
  • Deal-Making Processes: Manage deal-making processes required such as RFP, tendering crafting, time planning, etc., ensuring successful execution and closure.
  • Knowledge Acquisition: Continuously acquire knowledge of the product domain/area through supplier and market analyses, staying up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Spend Analysis: Monitor and act on spend analyses, optimizing resource allocation and driving cost savings.
  • Collaboration Setup: Support setup for collaboration and governance between product stakeholders, partners, and vendors, ensuring seamless communication and cooperation.
Qualifications:
  • Analytical Skills: Possess great analytical skills (KPI's, business case construction), problem-solving capabilities, and pragmatic outlook.
  • Strategic Thinking: Be a strategic thinker who can connect the objectives of a business case to the actions needed to execute.
  • Negotiation and Conflict Resolution: Have negotiation and conflict-resolution skills and ability to influence and persuade others.
  • Communication Skills: Possess solid communication skills, including being able to provide challenges in a constructive manner.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to set plans and bring others along – cross-functional or interdisciplinary background a plus.
  • Results-Oriented: Be results-oriented, concrete, pragmatic, efficient, and proactive questioner.
  • Deal-Making Experience: Have deal-making experience and understanding of a wide variety of deal structures.
