Postdoctoral Researcher in Electricity Market Optimization

KTH Royal Institute of Technology, a leading technical university in Europe, is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to join its team in the field of electricity market optimization. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of innovative algorithms and models to address the increasing complexity in the Single Day-ahead Coupling (SDAC) model.
About the ProjectThe project aims to study three key issues in the SDAC model: the reduction of the Market Time Unit (MTU) from 1 hour to 15 minutes, the increase in nonconvex orders, and the joint optimization of energy and balancing reserves. The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with a team of researchers and PhD students to develop policies to address these concerns and improve the performance of the SDAC model.
Responsibilities- Conduct research in electricity market optimization, focusing on nonconvex optimization theory and discrete optimization techniques.
- Develop and implement innovative algorithms and models to address the challenges in the SDAC model.
- Collaborate with the research team to design and conduct experiments to test the performance of the developed models.
- Contribute to the development of research papers and presentations to disseminate the results of the project.
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Applied Economics.
- Research expertise in electricity market areas, with a focus on nonconvex optimization theory and discrete optimization techniques.
- Strong programming skills in Julia, Python, MATLAB, or GAMS.
- Excellent English-language skills, proven by international English exams such as IELTS or TOEFL.
