We are seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to join our team at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and international research environment focused on electricity market optimization with nonconvexities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research in electricity market optimization with nonconvexities, focusing on the Single Day-ahead Coupling (SDAC) model.
- Develop innovative algorithms to solve the SDAC model, taking into account the increasing complexity of the model due to the reduction of the Market Time Unit (MTU) and the growing share of intermittent renewable generation.
- Collaborate with a team of researchers working on various electricity market issues, including joint optimization of energy and balancing reserves in the day-ahead market.
- Teach and supervise PhD students in the field of electricity market optimization.
- Doctoral degree in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or applied economics.
- Research expertise in electricity market areas, with a focus on nonconvex optimization theory and discrete optimization theory.
- Strong computer programming skills in Julia/Python, MATLAB, or GAMS programming languages.
- Excellent English-language skills, proven by international English exams such as IELTS or TOEFL.
- Recent PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Economics, Operations Research, or Applied Mathematics.
- Proven knowledge of non-convex optimization theory, discrete optimization theory, stochastic processes, mathematical decomposition techniques, and electricity-market principles.
- Experience in EU electricity market designs and involvement in electricity-market-related projects.
- Relevant papers in the areas of applied mathematics, operations research, or electricity markets.
