Postdoctoral Researcher in Chronic Pain Mechanisms

Are you interested in exploring the underlying mechanisms of chronic pain?

We are seeking applications for a postdoctoral research position within a team dedicated to investigating the cellular and molecular foundations of chronic pain conditions. This role is situated in a vibrant and collaborative research environment, offering an opportunity to contribute to significant advancements in the field.

Research Focus

The selected candidate will delve into the pain mechanisms associated with fibromyalgia. The project emphasizes the role of autoantibodies and their influence on the induction and persistence of pain. Research activities will involve analyzing liquid and tissue biopsies from both patients and healthy controls, alongside human primary cell cultures. Collaboration with preclinical and clinical researchers, computational biologists, and biostatisticians will be essential to uncover new insights into fibromyalgia pain pathology.

You will thrive in a creative and stimulating research atmosphere, working as part of a dedicated team focused on translational research aimed at revealing the cellular and molecular reasons behind chronic pain and enhancing the quality of life for those affected by fibromyalgia.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated, innovative, and collaborative team member. Candidates should possess a PhD in immunology, neuroscience, biomedical science, or a related discipline.

A strong background in neuroscience, immunology, or neuroinflammation is essential. Practical experience with human samples and/or primary cell cultures, as well as proficiency in immunocytochemistry, microscopy, and various analytical techniques, will be considered significant advantages.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently while also possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills to excel in a multidisciplinary team setting. A sense of responsibility, initiative, and adaptability in collaborating with researchers and students from diverse backgrounds is crucial.

Proficiency in written and spoken English is required, along with the ability to effectively communicate through presentations and publications. Strong recommendations from previous supervisors or educators are expected.

Eligibility Criteria

Scholarships for postdoctoral research are available for international researchers seeking to further their qualifications in Sweden. These scholarships aim to foster international collaboration and enhance research qualifications following the completion of a doctoral degree or its equivalent.

A scholarship for postdoctoral research may be granted for a maximum of two years within a four-year period following the attainment of a doctoral degree or equivalent. Applicants must have completed their doctorate or possess a foreign degree recognized as equivalent. Those who have not yet completed their doctorate by the application deadline may still apply, provided all requirements are fulfilled before the intended start date of the postdoctoral training.

Application Requirements

Applications must include the following documents in English or Swedish:

  • A comprehensive curriculum vitae, detailing the date of thesis defense, thesis title, previous academic positions, current role, academic distinctions, and committee work.
  • A complete list of publications.
  • A summary of current research activities (maximum one page).

Applications should be submitted through the designated recruitment system.
