About the Role

Vattenfall is a leading European energy company seeking a talented individual to join our team as a (Senior) Renewables Originator. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the future of our organization and contributing to our mission of making fossil-free living possible within one generation.

As a Renewables Originator, you will be responsible for originating new business in renewable energy markets, identifying deal opportunities, and negotiating complex transactions with external parties. You will also support and work on large M&A transactions and divestment cases, building and maintaining relationships with renewable generators and customers in the German and Nordic energy markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate new business in renewable energy markets, aligning with Vattenfall's strategy and purpose
  • Identify deal opportunities, focusing on mid and long-term renewable energy solutions, power purchase agreements, corporate power purchase agreements, and hydrogen offtake
  • Negotiate and structure complex transactions with external parties
  • Support and work on large M&A transactions and divestment cases
  • Build and maintain relationships with renewable generators and customers in the German and Nordic energy markets
  • Lead the deal process from beginning to end, liaising with internal stakeholders and planning and carrying out negotiations

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • More than 5 years of experience in the relevant power market, ideally in renewable energy origination
  • An academic degree in a technical or economic field, with a Master of Science or higher
  • A thorough understanding of the power energy market
  • A proven track record of deal initiation to deal closing
  • A good understanding of the hydrogen value chain
  • Ideal experience in investment banking and M&A transactions
  • Resilience and determination to execute Vattenfall's strategy and reach our goals
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to build trust and engagement, both within the company and externally
  • Strong commercial sense and a good understanding of trading, risk management, credit risk, back office, and finance functions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate the deal approvals process within Vattenfall
  • Able to work independently to originate and close deals, but also comfortable in a team environment
