Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden Alstom Full time

Req ID: 452790

At Alstom, we recognize the significance of transport networks and their role in connecting people. Our offerings span high-speed trains, metros, monorails, trams, and comprehensive systems, services, infrastructure, signaling, and digital mobility solutions. With a dedicated workforce of 74,000, we are committed to fostering greener and smarter mobility globally, enhancing urban connectivity while minimizing carbon footprints.

Your future role

We are seeking a full-time Senior Bid Engineer specializing in rolling stock maintenance. You will report to Maria Lindström (RSM Engineering Manager) and collaborate with a team of motivated professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be integral to the engineering division within Alstom Services in the Nordics. Your primary responsibility will be to enhance our clients' vehicles focusing on sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and operational efficiency. Working closely with a tender team and leveraging support from both local and global resources, you will contribute to our Rolling Stock Maintenance projects, particularly during the tender phase, while also providing assistance during project execution. Utilizing engineering expertise, available technical documentation, and accumulated organizational knowledge, you will identify and recommend maintenance optimizations, scrutinize cost analyses, and assess potential strategies. The overarching objective is to create competitive tenders and successful, cost-efficient maintenance initiatives.

  • Oversee technical work streams in tenders, adhering to established timelines.
  • In maintenance and material supply tenders, deliver maintenance plans, bills of materials, direct maintenance cost models, and risk assessments based on the latest field data.
  • Collaborate with the tender team to evaluate and define maintenance strategies.
  • Calculate bonus and penalty frameworks for the tender team.
  • Enhance maintenance costs concerning materials and labor time.
  • Challenge manufacturing units regarding vehicle development and Life Cycle Cost (LCC) definitions.
  • Review and consolidate RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) and LCC data with maintenance project engineers and systems engineers.
  • Ensure that feedback from maintenance projects is integrated into future strategies.
  • Advocate for the adoption of the latest maintenance techniques and R&D advancements (Condition Based Maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance).
  • Identify, propose, and implement maintenance improvements in ongoing projects.
  • Conduct risk analyses to mitigate potential issues.

About You:

To excel in this role, a broad technical background and a curious mindset are essential. You should possess strong drive and a solution-oriented approach, adapting to the varying conditions of different projects. Your ability to seek information and engage with relevant stakeholders is crucial. You will prioritize and plan your tasks in collaboration with other parties to achieve objectives within set timelines. A proactive attitude, along with strong organizational and communication skills, is highly valued.

We prioritize passion and attitude over experience. While we do not expect you to possess every skill, the following qualifications will aid your success and growth in this role:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a technical role, preferably in railway systems or application engineering.
  • Familiarity with rolling stock equipment.
  • Experience in LCC analysis.
  • Proficient in MS Office, SAP, and BI/BO.

Benefits:

Embark on a transformative career journey in the rail industry, where opportunities for growth and skill development are abundant. You will enjoy:

  • Stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from monotonous routines.
  • Collaboration with diverse teams and supportive colleagues.
  • Engagement in innovative projects.
  • The ability to steer your career across various functions and countries.
  • Investment in your development through award-winning learning programs.
  • A competitive and dynamic reward package that recognizes your performance and potential, along with comprehensive social coverage (life, medical, pension).

While a passion for trains is not a requirement, we guarantee that you will take pride in your contributions to our projects. If you are ready for this opportunity, we look forward to your interest.
