Role Overview:

As a Laboratory Instrumentation Applications Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing customer experience through effective training, technical support, and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Delivery: Conduct comprehensive training sessions for end-users on our diverse range of laboratory instruments and services. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and address customer training needs.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert assistance in troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges faced by customers, both remotely and on-site, ensuring timely and professional service.
  • Customer Complaint Resolution: Manage and resolve reagent and system-related customer complaints efficiently, prioritizing customer satisfaction through thorough investigation and resolution.
  • Workflow Optimization: Analyze customer workflows to identify areas for improvement, design tailored solutions, and implement standardized processes that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Customer Excellence Participation: Engage actively in the Customer Excellence Centre to facilitate prompt resolution of customer issues.
  • Technical Presentations: Present technical insights at User Group Meetings and other company events, contributing to the overall success of the team.
  • Instrument Validation: Perform necessary instrument qualification and assay runs to ensure compliance with required standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with global and local teams to address technical issues, ensuring comprehensive support for our customers.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate service reports, training logs, and CRM records to ensure organized documentation and effective resolution of customer matters.
  • Quality Compliance: Uphold quality and regulatory standards while embodying the core values of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on product knowledge to provide effective support and share expertise with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Field Visits: Conduct routine preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations as required.
  • Timely Repairs: Ensure timely fixing and support, keeping customers informed of progress throughout the process.
  • Software Updates: Implement necessary software and middleware upgrades for instruments at customer locations.
  • Feedback Contribution: Provide valuable feedback to global product teams regarding instrument reliability and quality.
  • Training Material Development: Contribute to the creation of training materials and technical guidance for both internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A relevant qualification in Life Sciences or related field, along with experience in a clinical laboratory or similar environment.
  • Background in electronics, biotechnology, medical devices, or engineering.
  • Strong technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including potential international travel.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Customer-focused with strong communication skills and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proactive attitude with the flexibility to manage competing priorities.
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of the role.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Applications, Service Engineering, or Technical/Customer Support roles.
  • Experience in servicing analytical equipment or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience in a training or mentoring capacity would be advantageous.
