About GTI
As a team, we interact with the Swedish Innovation ecosystem and their counterparts in the U.S. We work to match Swedish/American Research, Development, & Innovation Programs and solution providers with business opportunities – all to combat the climate challenge and support cities' transformation to climate neutrality. We cover the following thematic areas: smart green buildings, transport solutions, and energy solutions & supply, all in a city context. The founders behind Sweden-US Green Transition are Vinnova, the Swedish Energy Agency, the Embassy of Sweden in Washington D.C., and Business Sweden.
Your Role at GTI
As Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships, your primary work area is to matchmake and lead projects and activities. You will interact with stakeholders within governmental agencies, universities, Swedish Innovation Programs, Team Sweden colleagues, American stakeholders, and Swedish green-tech solution providers. You are responsible for building strong relationships, designing, and running analytical work, and ensuring that insights and recommendations are well supported and packaged into consortia of several companies or Innovation projects.
You will be part of a high-performing team of four GTI colleagues, primarily based in Washington, D.C., and one based in San Francisco. GTI is a unique initiative (no other equivalent exists yet in the world). By joining this dedicated team, you will have the opportunity to have a great impact on accelerating the green transition internationally, participate in the greater good, and shape the structure of GTI going forward.
Responsibilities

- Lead projects and activities that contribute to Sweden's position as a key partner in the U.S. green transition by promoting trade, adoption of Swedish sustainable technology solutions, investments, and Research and innovation collaborations between the two countries.
- Co-organise and create high-level events and delegations.
- Work on projects within academia, public policy, and business.
- Interact with executives and senior politicians by leading roundtables and panel discussions to drive the green transition agenda.
- Manage projects focusing on selling "collaborative project ideas" and leveraging our network to build relationships and connections and drive a positive impact on Swedish trade.
- Build the brand of Sweden as an attractive country for investments.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
Core competencies and collaborative skills

- Relevant degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Urban Development, or equivalent, preferably with a high degree of interest in emerging technologies.
- 4-6+ years experience in a relevant industry as a Sustainability Consultant, Management Consultant, Internal Business Development Manager, or International Project Manager.
- A background in driving city transformation to climate neutrality and experience from cities decarbonization, smart and green buildings, E-mobility and alternative fuels, and smart grids and energy storage.
- Proven experience in business development, innovation, or research in green transformation within the industry sector.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with people at all levels within our network and organisation.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively - both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to write & converse at a professional level in English.

Technical Skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Suite Programs.

Soft Skills

- A doer, skilled in navigating complex environments and driving results toward ambitious targets with ability to drive towards targets in complex context.
- Team Player, humble and enthusiastic for collaboration with a positive "can do attitude" and a self-motivator.
- Relationship management: with government, university, and private sector representatives.
- Public speaking: proven experience acting as a moderator, public speaker, and event organiser, as well as setting strategic plans to leverage communication and identify appropriate channels to promote the best possible reach.

A Plus

- Ability to write and converse at a professional level in Swedish.
- Experience from living and working abroad is an advantage.
- Previous experience from Swedish Innovation Programs, testbeds or innovation arenas.
