About the Role

Cepheid is seeking a highly skilled Staff Supplier Development Engineer - Reagents to join our Technical Operations team. As a key member of our supplier development team, you will be responsible for assessing supplier capabilities, providing input to new supplier selection, evaluation, and development, and improving business alignment between suppliers and Cepheid.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop Specifications and Control Plans: Create or develop specifications and control plans for new critical parts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Cepheid's quality standards.
  2. Collaborate with Suppliers and Internal Teams: Interface between suppliers and internal teams for supplier issues related to specifications/performance, and participate in first article inspections, measurement system analysis, and statistical process control as required.
  3. Identify Secondary Sources: Identify secondary sources for new critical parts to ensure a stable supply chain.
  4. Review and Approve Change Orders: Review, approve, and release change orders related to suppliers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Cepheid's quality standards.
Requirements
  • Education: University Degree in Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical engineering, Chemical engineering or related.
  • Experience: 3+ years of demonstrated experience working directly with internal functional organizations and suppliers on a regular basis.
  • Travel: Must be willing and able to travel to supplier locations (up to 20% of the time).
  • Skills: 2+ years experience in understanding manufacturing processes and controls, 2+ years experience with understanding and refining specifications, and fluent level of English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to Read and Interpret Product BOM's and Engineering Drawings: Ability to read and interpret product Bill of Materials (BOM's) and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Power Point, Agile, and SAP: Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Power Point, Agile, and SAP.
