About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Account Executive to join our team at Datadog. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for targeting and closing new business with our largest and most strategic customers and prospects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospecting and Sales: Identify and pursue new business opportunities with large Fortune 1000 companies, utilizing an efficient sales process to close deals.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within assigned territories, including existing relationships and aspirational contacts.
  • Customer Understanding: Develop a deep comprehension of customers' businesses, including their pain points, goals, and objectives.
  • Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate favorable pricing and business terms with large commercial enterprises, selling value and ROI to secure deals.
  • Account Management: Handle existing customer expectations while expanding reach and depth into assigned territories.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrate resourcefulness when faced with challenges that defy easy solutions.
  • Business Acumen: Identify robust sets of business drivers behind all opportunities and ensure high forecasting accuracy and consistency.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years of closing experience, with a mix of field selling within mid-market and enterprise environments.
  • Performance: Driven and able to meet or exceed direct sales goals of $1M+, with an average deal size of $100k+.
  • Methodology: Able to demonstrate a methodology for prospecting and building pipeline on your own.
  • Industry Experience: Experienced in working for an innovative tech company (SaaS, IT infrastructure, or similar preferred).
  • Sales Experience: Experienced in selling into large Fortune 1000 companies, with the ability to win new logos.
  • Travel: Able to sit for up to 4 hours, traveling to and from client sites, and travel up to 70% of the time via auto, train, or air.
