The position is responsible for overseeing operations in the Nordic region, including Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland.

Your role

You will be responsible for the development and execution of the Medical Affairs Strategy and Plan in the Nordic region. You will also provide medical/scientific strategic and operational leadership for Medical Affairs activities such as overall strategy and plan, scientific data gap analysis, data generation and communication, competitive landscape analysis, and utilization of insights.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide medical/scientific strategic and operational expertise and leadership for all Medical Affairs activities.
  2. Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the medical and competitive developments and unmet needs in relevant therapeutic areas. Provide medical insights and perspectives to guide the business strategy.
  3. Strategic Planning for the affiliate Medical Affairs team, ensuring alignment of strategy and providing input into operational and strategic decision-making processes.
  4. Lead scientific and external engagement strategy for the affiliate and represent LEO Pharma in meetings with external stakeholders.
  5. Accountable for all Medical Affairs activities in the affiliate, developing, motivating, and maintaining a high performing Medical Affairs team.
  6. Responsible for budgets, headcounts, workload, and productivity of the Medical Affairs Department.
  7. Set performance metrics and ensure that local Medical Affairs implementation plans are executed efficiently.
  8. Drive adoption of Global Medical Affairs processes in the affiliate.
  9. Accountable for local publication planning throughout the product life cycle.
  10. Identify opportunities and implement innovative solutions to improve organizational impact and/or efficiencies.
  11. Support the development of a strategy map on key medical activities that demonstrate medical impact, value, and effectiveness.
  12. Perform gap analysis of local capabilities & needs and facilitate appropriate training opportunities for local medical staff.
  13. Identify talent in the affiliate and work with peers in Regional and Global Medical teams to develop these staff.
  14. Responsible for local sign-off of proposed Investigator Initiated Studies (IISs) and Non-Interventional Studies (NISs).
  15. Maintain highest standards regarding safety, pharmacovigilance, and medical information.
  16. Ensure that the affiliate operates an effective promotional material review & approval process.
  17. Develop and execute strategies for evidence generation in collaboration with commercial colleagues.
  18. Represent Medical Affairs in Leadership teams and contribute beyond the medical agenda.
Qualifications
  1. MD degree or Pharmacist preferred.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, in medical affairs and/or clinical research and development.
  3. Minimum of 3 years Medical Affairs experience.
  4. Solid knowledge of drug development, safety, regulatory, market access, and reimbursement requirements.
  5. Experience in dermatology preferred as well as launch experience.
  6. Experience working with biologics preferred.
  7. Strong leader with proven influencing and negotiating ability.
  8. Track record of cross-functional collaboration.
  9. Strong goal orientation, decision-making ability, and history of meeting deadlines and objectives.
  10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  11. Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  12. Experience in developing and expanding Key External Expert relationships.
  13. Skilled in developing, reviewing, understanding, and presenting clinical and scientific information to multiple audiences.
  14. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  15. Willing and able to undertake significant domestic and international travel.
