Chief Technology Officer for TV4 & MTV

TV4 (in Sweden) and MTV (in Finland) are two of the top leading TV houses in the Nordics. The companies are owned by Telia Company, forming its TV/Media business area and run as independent mass media companies.

TV/Media is accountable for all TV program content; the ad and Pay TV business for TV4 and MTV; Product and technology development for TV/Media services, and the third-party business, i.e. providing our channels to other distributors.

To be able to continuously deliver the best content and user experience in the market we are looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO), who is part of TV/Media management team and reporting to Head of TV & Media and CEO for TV4 Media.

In the role of CTO, you will:

Oversee all aspects of technology strategy, development, and operations for TV4 Play and MTV Katsomo, leading Nordic streaming services both ad and subscription financed. This role is critical in ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality content to millions of users, enhancing user experience, and driving technological innovation.

The role also covers traditional IT, TV and Advertising systems that are under transformation into a full digital environment.

The CTO will lead a sizeable and dynamic team of ca 300+ engineers, developers, and IT professionals to maintain and scale the streaming platform's infrastructure, ensuring robust performance, security, and reliability.

The position's location in Stockholm, Sweden.

Your key responsibilities:

Technology Strategy & Leadership:

Develop and implement the overall technology strategy aligned with the company's business goals and vision. Lead the technological innovation and digital transformation initiatives. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends to keep the streaming service at the forefront of the industry.

Product Development:

Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment and maintenance. Product management, design, and defining with "Business teams" product features and roadmap. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and user-friendly applications and services.

Operations Management:

Manage the infrastructure and operations of the streaming platform, ensuring optimal performance and uptime. Implement and maintain robust monitoring and alerting systems to proactively address potential issues. Oversee content delivery networks (CDNs), cloud services, and data centers.

Performance Optimization:

Analyze and optimize the performance of the streaming platform to deliver a seamless user experience. Implement strategies for efficient scaling to handle increasing traffic and user demand.

Team Leadership:

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of engineers, developers, and software specialists. Foster a culture of "software", continuous improvement, and collaboration within the technology team. Provide technical guidance and support to team members.

Security & Compliance:

Ensure the streaming platform adheres to industry standards, regulations, and best practices for security and privacy. Implement and manage security measures to protect user data and prevent breaches.

Is this you?

Minimum of 10 years in technology leadership roles, preferably within the streaming or media industry. Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. Fully proficient written and verbal English and Swedish language skills. You have solid leadership skills and a proven track record of leading and scaling technology teams. You also have excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities matched up with communication skills. Your technical Skills include proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks, deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS,) and CDNs. Experience with DevOps practices and tools as well as strong knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements.
