Senior Test Lead

Role description

We are looking for a Senior Test Lead to secure the quality of large-scale, cloud-based data and rule-processing systems used to detect financial irregularities. In this role, you will lead test strategy and planning, validate complex data pipelines, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of rule engines in a modern GCP environment. You will work closely with engineering, analytics and architecture teams to align QA practices with business and regulatory requirements, and apply strong technical testing skills in automation, exploratory testing and data validation.

• Define, lead and continuously improve test strategies for data-driven, cloud-based systems.
• Plan, coordinate and execute test activities across data pipelines, rule engines and integrations.
• Design and implement automated tests using Python, Java and SQL for data validation and functional/regression testing.
• Conduct ETL testing, including validation of data transformations, data quality and data lineage across complex environments.
• Validate behaviour and correctness of rule-based engines (e.g. decision tables and similar logic frameworks).
• Work with GCP services (such as BigQuery, Bigtable and Composer) to support test design, execution and monitoring.
• Collaborate with engineering, analytics and architecture teams to ensure QA is integrated throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Connect QA activities to business and regulatory needs, with a clear focus on compliance, risk and traceability.
• Perform exploratory testing on data-driven features and services to identify defects and edge cases.
• Produce clear test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test reports and defect descriptions.
• Mentor team members in quality practices and contribute to building a strong QA culture.

• 8–10+ years of experience testing data-driven systems or working in senior enterprise QA roles.
• Strong skills in Python, Java and SQL for automated testing and data validation.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services such as BigQuery, Bigtable and Composer.
• Familiarity with ETL testing, data modelling and validation of data lineage in complex environments.
• Understanding of rule-based engines such as decision tables or similar logic frameworks.
• Strong system-thinking with the ability to link QA work to business objectives and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, and experience working in agile, collaborative teams.
• B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a relevant field.
• Experience working with complex software systems in an enterprise environment.
• Relevant certifications such as ISTQB (Foundation/Agile/Automation), Google Cloud certifications or REQB – or a strong willingness to obtain them.

• Experience from the banking or financial sector, particularly within regulatory or risk-related systems.
• Experience working in highly regulated environments with strong audit and traceability requirements.
• Background in test leadership roles where you have driven quality improvements across teams or programs.
