Lead Mobile Core Network Engineer

We're looking for a Lead Mobile Core Network Engineer to join us at Telia.

I'm Taimur Lodhi, Head of Packet Core Development Team. We are an experienced and dedicated telecommunications team responsible for the development of Mobile Packet Core networks across Telia footprint—Sweden, Norway, Finland, Lithuania and Estonia.

We are on an exciting journey as we transform our networks, services, and ways of working. The shift to cloud-native Packet Core , combined with 5G standalone and new enterprise and consumer services, is opening opportunities to shape future applications and deliver real value to our customers.

What you'll do:

• Lead the development of our Mobile Packet Core platform, including 5G Core, supporting both consumer and enterprise services across multiple countries.
• Support lifecycle management of Packet Core and 5G Core functions in a telco cloud environment.
• Drive our transformation toward a fully cloud-native Mobile Packet Core.
• Adopt new tools and automation frameworks in close collaboration with cloud infrastructure teams.
• Work with stakeholders in products, strategy, and mobile networks to define business requirements and launch new 5G services under agile (SAFe) methodologies.
• Act as a technical lead toward Mobile Packet Core suppliers and drive the mid- to long-term technology roadmap.

What will help you thrive in this role:

You are passionate about mobile communications, thrive in a fast-changing environment, and have deep hands-on experience with Mobile Packet Core.

Your experience:

• University degree in IT, Information Systems, Network Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years as a Solution Architect or Network Engineer with expertise in Packet Core / 5G Core, leading E2E solution design and delivery.
• Experience delivering 5G standalone (SA) core projects, including orchestration, automation, slicing, and edge use cases.
• Hands-on development and operational experience with Packet Core and Policy Control.
• Fluent English, spoken and written.

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of 5G Core architecture and functions deployed in cloud-native environments.
• Experience with automation, orchestration and agile delivery.
• Skills in traffic forecasting, dimensioning, and network design.
• Familiarity with SaaS principles, network exposure APIs, and ML/AI is a plus.
