Service Desk Engineer (1st / 2nd Line Support)

Location:
Stockholm, Sweden (Onsite / Hybrid – as required)

Contract Type:
Day-rate Contractor - 6 month with likely extension

We are seeking an experienced Service Desk 1st/2nd Line Engineer to provide high-quality technical support to end users in a fast-paced, professional investment environment. The contractor will act as a key point of contact for IT support, handling incidents and service requests while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

This role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with wider IT teams and third-party providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support to end users (in person, via phone, email, and ticketing system)
  • Log, manage, and resolve incidents and service requests in line with SLAs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to:
  • Windows 10/11
  • Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
  • Active Directory (user accounts, groups, permissions)
  • Hardware (laptops, desktops, peripherals, mobile devices)
  • Network connectivity (VPN, Wi-Fi, basic LAN troubleshooting)
  • Perform user onboarding and offboarding (account setup, hardware provisioning, access rights)
  • Escalate complex issues to 3rd line teams or external vendors where required
  • Support meeting room technology and AV equipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation and knowledge base articles
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service in a professional, confidential environment

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Service Desk / Desktop Support role (1st and 2nd line)
  • Strong knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft 365
  • Experience with Active Directory and basic Group Policy
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow, Jira, Freshservice or similar)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support non-technical users
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting financial services, private equity, or investment firms
  • Knowledge of Intune / Endpoint Manager
  • Basic PowerShell scripting

Language Requirements

  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
  • Swedish language skills are beneficial but not mandatory
