Financial Controller (Redovisning & Rapportering) — Urban Miners (Sweden)

Urban Miners turns high‑value e‑waste into recovered metals and minerals. We're scaling a data‑driven, operations‑tight business—and we need a Financial Controller who loves accuracy, order, and making systems hum.

The Role

You'll be the stabilising force partnering directly with our COO/CFO to lock in financial accuracy, embed robust processes, and turn improvement ideas into standard operating rhythms. If you take pride in spotless ledgers, crisp close cycles, and well‑designed controls—while collaborating across ops, logistics and production—this is for you.

What You'll Own

• AP/AR & Bookkeeping (Day‑0):

Create vendor/customer masters, validate OCR‑captured supplier invoices, post journals, reconcile bank accounts, prepare payment runs, issue e‑invoices/Peppol, cash application, VAT/MOMS filings. Partner with Logistics (GRN, delivery/assay triggers) to drive clean 3‑way match and on‑time invoicing.
- Reporting & Planning:

Produce monthly
management accounts

(P&L, cash, AR aging) with succinct variance notes; co-lead the annual budget with the CFO in Year‑1 and take full ownership in Year‑2; maintain a simple rolling 13‑week cash view; introduce quarterly re‑forecasts by Month‑6.
- Close & Controls:

Own monthly/quarterly close; GL integrity; journals; reconciliations; policies; documentation; internal controls; audit readiness.
- Compliance:

Swedish statutory reporting (Bolagsverket), tax/MOMS & employer filings (Skatteverket), Intrastat/EC Sales where relevant; support group reporting (IFRS or K3).
- Manufacturing & Inventory Accounting:

Establish reliable WIP and inventory reconciliations with Logistics and Ops; deepen into costing, yield/recovery tracking, and assay reconciliation over the first year.
- Revenue & Commercial:

Revenue recognition across purchase, consignment and tolling models; rebates; pricing and margins; contract accounting.
- Treasury & Cash:

Basic cash forecasting Day‑0; payment run controls; hedging/IFRS 9 exposure is a plus, not required Day‑0.
- Assets & Leases:

Capex tracking; fixed‑asset register; operate lease accounting templates (IFRS 16); escalate complex scenarios.
- Systems & Data:

Drive ERP/process integrations; strengthen data flows from operations (weigh‑ins, handling units, assays) to finance; enable BI dashboards (e.g., Google Workspace/Sheets, Airtable, BigQuery/SQL or similar).
- Stakeholder Partnering:

Work hand‑in‑glove with operations, logistics and production scheduling to reflect reality in the numbers and to spot improvement opportunities early.

Must‑Haves

• Qualification:

Chartered Accountant / CPA (or EU equivalent).
- Language:

Fluent Swedish; near‑native English.
- Experience:

3–7+ years

across financial accounting/controlling; exposure to
Sweden

and ideally another
European

jurisdiction.
- Hands‑on from Day‑0:

Comfortable
doing

bookkeeping tasks (vendor/customer masters, invoice entry/approval, bank recs, payment runs) while designing the target process and controls.
- Reporting & Tools:

Advanced spreadsheets; modern ERP; comfort with automation (OCR, e‑invoicing/Peppol); BI/data skills (e.g., SQL/BigQuery/Power BI/Looker) are a plus, not a gate.
- Management reporting:

Experience producing
management accounts

and variance notes; budgeting/forecasting
exposure

with ownership to grow into.
- Standards:

IFRS or K3 familiarity; practical statutory and tax/MOMS cadence in Sweden.
- Execution:

Runs a disciplined month‑end and strengthens internal controls.

Nice to Have

• Manufacturing/Inventory:

Willing and able to learn; baseline understanding of WIP/inventory concepts; experience a plus.Process industry, recycling, mining, or metals experience.
- Inventory costing/yield experience; assay reconciliation exposure.
- Lease accounting (IFRS 16) and hedging/FX (IFRS 9) exposure.
- Environmental/EPR reporting familiarity.
- Experience with Google Workspace, Airtable, Trello, and/or pipelines into BigQuery (or comparable stack).

You turn what happens in logistics/production into clean accounting, clear explanations, and management insight people can act on.
- Partner with backbone:

You communicate clearly and candidly, collaborate across teams, and can insist on clean inputs and good process—pragmatic, kind, and firm.
- Own the loop:

You close issues end-to-end, document decisions, standardise ways of working, and make sure fixes stick (not just this month).
