As an Underwriter, you will play a key role in ensuring healthy growth and high quality within our Norwegian loan portfolio. Working alongside other underwriters, you will be responsible for underwriting complex applications and/or maintaining ownership of the partner portfolio.

Your main responsibilities will include

• Underwriting complex cases: Analyze complex loan applications in detail, assessing risk and financial viability to support informed lending decisions.

• Independent decision-making: Review and evaluate applications from new and existing customers, preparing and proposing loan offers independently. Determine terms based on customer profiles and risk assessments, ensuring clarity and alignment with business objectives.

• Customer interaction: Build strong relationships with customers via phone, email, and chat, guiding them through the credit process with professionalism. Proactively identify opportunities to provide tailored financial solutions that meet their needs.

• Portfolio management: Manage a portfolio of customers with a focus on personalized service, nurturing relationships while identifying opportunities to grow the business through upselling.

• Relationship Management & Collaboration: Maintain strong relationships with external partners and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders - including Credit Officers and Partnerships Manager, to improve underwriting efficiency and align risk decisions with market objectives.

• Growth & Learning: Take advantage of opportunities to learn and develop within a dynamic and engaging environment, contributing to both personal and organizational growth.

We are looking for someone with an analytical approach who thrives on diving into numbers and details to make well-informed credit decisions.

Qualifications

• Language skills: You must be fluent in English (written and spoken). When it comes to our local markets, we require fluency in either Norwegian or Swedish. If you're not a Norwegian speaker, having a strong working comprehension of the language is all we need.

• Experience in lending: You have a few years of experience in lending, credit assessment, or risk evaluation, preferably within banking or financial services.

• Solution-oriented and flexible: You embrace change positively, identifying improvements that enhance customer experience and business outcomes while adapting easily to new strategies and responsibilities.

• Customer-centric and proactive: You build trust by understanding customer needs and engaging with them at eye level, while taking ownership of your responsibilities and working independently to deliver results.

• Experience in B2B lending or credit assessment for small and medium-sized businesses.

• Fluency in Norwegian, which will help you communicate effectively with customers and partners.
