Role Description

We're looking for a Foundational Engineer (Founding CTO Level) to architect and scale the core intelligence engine behind Sumbios AI. This is a hands-on, high-agency role that combines deep technical design with creative system thinking.

You'll lead the development of our Temporal Dynamic Contextual Knowledge Graph (TDCKG) - the evolving intelligence core that powers memory, reasoning, and adaptive context across users, agents, and organizations.

Your work will shape:

• The architecture of our distributed, event-driven graph system

• The orchestration layer connecting agents, models, and data

• The engineering culture that balances speed with coherence, and experimentation with integrity

This is not a standard CTO role. It's a chance to build the system that thinks relationally, and lay the foundation for a new kind of human-AI collaboration.

Qualifications

• Deep experience in architectural design, distributed systems, or knowledge graphs

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Python, Go, Java, C++, Rust)

• Familiarity with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, or symbolic reasoning systems

• Experience designing for scalability, privacy, and adaptive context

• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills suitable for a founding-level role

• Curiosity for human–machine symbiosis, semantic systems, and AI orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, MCP, etc.)

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
• Above all: a builder's mindset: the ability to turn clarity and vision into coherent, elegant systems

What you will do:

1. Architect the Intelligence Core

• Design and lead the
  Temporal
  Dynamic Contextual Knowledge Graph (TDCKG),
  the heart of Sumbios' intelligence layer.
• Build temporal, event-driven graph systems that evolve with user and organizational context.
• Develop the
  Memory & Context Engine:
  integrating knowledge graphs, embeddings, and vectorized context for adaptive reasoning and retrieval.
• Enable real-time, permission-aware context updates across agents, workspaces, and relationships.

2. Build the Orchestration Layer

• Implement compositional automation using
  LangGraph
  ,
  MCP (Model Context Protocol)
  , or custom-built orchestration frameworks.
• Create systems for
  contextual query routing
  ,
  graph writes
  , and
  agent-to-agent communication
  .
• Evolve Sumbios into a distributed, composable intelligence fabric.

3. Lead and Scale the Tech Team

• Build and mentor a high-agency technical team fluent in AI, graph systems, and distributed architecture.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and user research to turn human workflows into technical systems.
• Establish engineering practices that balance speed with quality, and experimentation with coherence.

4. Pioneer Innovation

• Push the boundaries of
  relational AI, memory systems, and symbiotic computation
  .
• Explore how symbolic reasoning, LLMs, embeddings, and temporal logic can work together to form adaptive intelligence.
• Shape the long-term technical vision and ecosystem partnerships that define the SIE's growth.

This is a fit if ...

• Have 8+ years of experience in
  AI, distributed systems, or advanced data architectures
  , ideally as a technical founder, CTO, or senior architect.
• Are fluent in
  knowledge graphs (Neo4j, RDF/OWL, or custom property-graph models)
  .
• Have experience building
  contextual or memory-driven systems
  using embeddings, vector stores, or reasoning engines.
• Understand
  temporal graph architectures

• Have worked with
  LangGraph, MCP, or custom compositional orchestration frameworks
