Motorica is at a breakthrough moment.

We've built a generative AI animation platform that creates AAA-quality character animation at a fraction of the traditional cost and time.

Already recognized as a leader in the rapidly emerging motion modality; one of the six fundamental generative AI modalities alongside image, video, audio, text, and geometry, we're transforming how studios produce lifelike, dynamic animation.

By combining our proprietary Motion Capture dataset with cutting-edge diffusion models, we're reducing one of the biggest bottlenecks in gaming and cinematic production: the need for expensive, time-consuming MoCap sessions or manual keyframing.

Studios that once spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on animation can now create production-ready sequences in minutes.

With early demand from major studios and rapid scaling ahead, we now need to ensure our own teams can build, test, and deploy faster, more securely, and more reliably than ever. That's where you come in.

The Role:

As our first Backend Engineer, you will be the foundation of our internal developer platform.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, build, and maintain the efficient, reusable, and reliable backend services that form the core of our platform.
  • Partner with our frontend team to bring new features to life, from initial API design through to final implementation.
  • Build and maintain a robust, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure to support the deployment and lifecycle of our machine learning models.
  • Write clean, scalable, and well-documented Python code that stands the test of time.
  • Engage in the full spectrum of the development process—from architectural design and tooling decisions to proactive bug hunting and performance optimization.
  • Elevate our engineering standards by actively improving our codebase, championing security best practices, and ensuring compliance across our systems.

  • Take an active role in our DevOps culture by automating and streamlining the process of turning code into production-ready artifacts.
  • Oversee the deployment of new code to production, focusing on reliability, zero-downtime, and infrastructure cost-efficiency.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, or DevOps, ideally in high-growth or AI/ML-heavy environments.
  • Strong grasp of CI/CD systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Strong communication skills; you'll be interfacing with developers daily and need to translate infrastructure into clarity, not complexity.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset: you anticipate friction before others feel it.

Nice to have:

  • General knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Golang.
  • Familiarity with Rust.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with MLOps principles and tools (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow) or a strong interest in integrating ML models into production systems.
