Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden Nasdaq Full time

At Nasdaq, you'll have the chance to start your career in an environment where learning, teamwork, and innovation come first. In this role, you'll support Quant Research group within Nasdaq's European Economic and Statistical Research (ESR) department. As a student worker you will gain hands-on experience with providing research and analytical support on market microstructure, trading liquidity, and competitor behavior to multiple Nasdaq business units, such as cash equities, equity derivatives, and listings. The aim is improving the trading environment, capital formation, and market structure within the Nordic & Baltic region.

This role is ideal for anyone aiming to build a career in the field of quantitative research and financial markets. It provides a great opportunity to work within a highly skilled team, where we offer you access to detailed datasets that provide a microscopic view into the functioning of financial markets.

To succeed in this role, you need to be highly analytical, meticulous, and thorough while handling large amounts of data. Our short deadlines also place high demands on service mindedness, efficiency, and expertise.

You don't need to know everything on day one — we'll help you build the skills, confidence, and network to grow your career.

What You'll Do

  • Provide quantitative analysis and support research initiatives focusing on Nasdaq Nordic's cash equities and equity derivatives markets.

  • Work independently on research projects as well as support research efforts by engaging in data extraction, data cleanup, and exploratory analysis.

  • Typical projects include supporting product development work on new market models and order types, understanding the trading flow of Nasdaq's customers and helping them optimize trading/routing decisions, supporting the design of incentive schemes to attract order flow, and conducting impact analyses of various initiatives.

  • Collaborate with teammates across different functions and regions.

  • Bring your ideas and curiosity to problem-solving and project work.

  • Develop your technical and professional skills through training and mentorship.

We also offer the possibility for students to write their master theses within our group.

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree (bachelors or masters program) within engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, data science, finance/economics or other relevant subjects.

  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages, e.g. R or Python

  • Previous experience with handling very large data sets

  • Some experience in employing statistical, econometric, and/or machine learning models to investigate business/research questions. This could be through prior internships, thesis work, or course work.

  • Ability to work well with others and contribute to a team environment.

  • Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and take on new challenges.

  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working with SQL

  • Curiosity and interest about capital markets and finance.
