The role: Aiven is looking for an energetic and passionate accounting professional to strengthen our Accounting team, which consists of 10+ fantastic colleagues in Europe.

The ideal candidate is a well-qualified accounting professional with a strong interest in accounting principles, financial control, and process. This position is based out of Helsinki (Aiven HQ) or Stockholm.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the month-end close, including completing accounting activities, preparing and posting journal entries, and calculating accounting concepts.
  • Work on the accounting and financial reporting for a Group of 15 entities around the globe at the statutory entity level – the largest entities being in Finland and Germany.
  • Ensure group accounting policies and principles are followed in all group entities.
  • Work on individual audits and preparation of financial statements for subsidiary entities.
  • Assist the accounting team with ad hoc tasks and projects.
  • Assist with VAT returns and preparation of tax information.
  • Work on projects to improve and automate accounting processes and systems within the finance landscape to enhance efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with other internal teams, including accounting operations, tax & treasury, FP&A, legal, HR, and IT.
  • Oversee some of our external advisors, including accounting and payroll partners in different jurisdictions, tax authorities, auditors, and consultants.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree, and/or a recognized accounting qualification.
  • Knowledge and practical understanding of accounting principles and standards (IFRS).
  • 5+ years experience in accounting activities.
  • Working knowledge of financial control and processes.
  • Experience in tech or scale-ups is an advantage.
  • Understanding of how to prepare and post journal entries and experience with a recognized ERP system (NetSuite experience is a plus).
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to build professional networks within finance and cross-functional teams.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (written and verbal).
