About the Role:
We are seeking an ESG Research Associate to join our Norm-Based Research team at ISS | Institutional Shareholder Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting research on corporate controversies related to global norms on human rights, environmental protection, business malpractice, and labor standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research on companies' involvement in activities or practices that may conflict with established international standards and guidelines.
- Review information presented by and engage in dialogue with stakeholders and companies.
- Write research reports on companies' activities connected to violations of international norms.
- Participate in the research peer review process.
- Contribute to team processes focused on strengthening our ESG product offering.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as human rights, international relations, law, and/or humanities.
- 3-5 years of research experience or similar in human rights, preferably related to business and human rights, corporate social responsibility, ESG, and/or sustainability.
- Good understanding of corporate controversies and international standards and guidelines for responsible business conduct.
- Excellent language skills (fluency in English required, additional languages an asset).
- Solid writing and research skills, including the ability to produce deadline-driven basic and advanced analyses.
- Strong interest in ESG, finance, and responsible investment.
