Hitachi Energy, Västerås is looking for a dedicated HVDC Team Lead to join their team. As an R&D project manager you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a talented team of engineers and lead R&D projects focusing on the development of innovative solutions for HVDC applications.

The role involves driving requirements analysis, pre-studies, solution development, and documentation of results in the projects. You will also develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, and resource plans; perform risk analysis and monitor the progress of plans against project milestones and budgets.

  • Set up and execute R&D projects together with your project team in alignment with our R&D portfolio management.
  • Proactively work with the team to identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with the implementation of new solutions. Develop risk management plans and strategies to respond to risks as they arise.

Your background

  • You have a university degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in electrical engineering or similar and a strong technical background within the electrical power industry.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to HVDC, FACTS technology, power semiconductors, and voltage source converters applications.
  • Knowledge of power system simulation studies and simulation tools is an advantage.
  • You have 5+ years of experience in technical project management of R&D projects related to power electronic converters and high voltage electrical equipment.
  • A proven track record of managing complex research and development projects from inception to completion is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall project management methodologies, with the ability to adapt approaches based on project requirements and constraints.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively implement solutions.
  • Ability to lead geographically dispersed teams in a multi-site global environment.
  • Fluency in English is required.
