PhD Student Position in Humanoid Robotics and Artificial Intelligence

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team at Chalmers tekniska högskola. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of algorithms for bi-manual manipulation and locomanipulation tasks using mobile robots with humanoid form factor.
Research FocusThe PhD student will be working on various topics including multi-body dynamics, optimal control theory, machine learning, and robotics & artificial intelligence. The focus will be on developing numerically stable and efficient computational algorithms, their implementation, and testing with computer programs, both in simulation and real robotic systems.

About the Research GroupThe PhD student will be part of an emerging research lab led by Dr. Shivesh Kumar, focusing on legged robotics and athletic intelligence research. The research group is part of the Division of Dynamics, which is committed to being world-class in both teaching and research, with a mixture of theoretical and applied activities.
About the Graduate SchoolThe PhD student will have the opportunity to participate in the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) graduate school, which provides a platform for PhD students to develop skills in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and software. The graduate school offers research visits, partner universities, and visiting lecturers, supporting the formation of a strong multi-disciplinary and international professional network.
Responsibilities- Pursue doctoral studies, developing scientific concepts and communicating research results verbally and in writing to the scientific community.
- Contribute to the development of algorithms for bi-manual manipulation and locomanipulation tasks.
- Implement and test computational algorithms with computer programs, both in simulation and real robotic systems.
- Participate in activities organized by the WASP graduate school.
