We are seeking two master program students in engineering with specialization in engineering mathematics, Applied Mechanics, Physics or equivalent to join our team at Volvo Group. As a master thesis student, you will have the opportunity to work on a project that contributes to the development of sustainable transport solutions.
Project OverviewThe project involves developing a statistical model to generate virtual drive cycles for vehicle simulations. This requires analyzing logged data and road information databases to define road characteristics and create training sets. The goal is to create a comprehensive drive cycle generation algorithm that can be used to optimize vehicle performance and reduce energy consumption.
Responsibilities- Analyze logged data and road information databases to define road characteristics and create training sets.
- Develop an algorithm using Markov's chains to generate virtual road altitude profiles.
- Verify the severity of generated drive cycles to existing ones for standard types of performance evaluations (energy consumption, brake performance, durability, tire wear).
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in engineering mathematics, Applied Mechanics, Physics or equivalent. You should also have experience with programming languages such as Matlab or Python.
