About the Role

The Software Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, from planning and development to launch and closure phases of a program. This role will serve as the primary technical interface for software development between internal stakeholders and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage software development and testing, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
  • Actively manage software deliverables and report status against project plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Solution Management, Software Project Leads, Acoustic Engineers, and Customer Program Managers, to drive successful project delivery.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Make strategic decisions regarding software build content and timing, identifying dependencies and roadblocks.
  • Gate the software development release lifecycle to ensure customer acceptance and product launch readiness.
  • Proactively manage program risk, identifying and addressing potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Evaluate project management processes and metrics to track and measure project success.
  • Represent the program internally to senior management during program, quality, and operations reviews.
  • Lead the program in adhering to standard HARMAN processes and maintaining program and customer-related documentation.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for internal and external project software communications.
  • Resolve conflicts between internal and customer engineering groups.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. degree in Engineering or a related field, with 4 years of experience in corporate or academic research, or a Master's Degree in the same field with 8 years of experience in research and development, or a Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience.
  • 10-15 years of systems engineering, requirements management, or related experience.
  • Proven technical leadership within the technology industry or automotive industry.
  • Ability to articulate vision and influence decision-making outcomes with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and customers.
  • Experience managing external and internal vendors/partners.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technology concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • High-quality mindset to develop software with best industry practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Practical experience in system design, hardware/software design, and real-time embedded applications.
  • Previous experience in all phases of the software development process.
