Car Audio Software Program Manager

The Software Program Manager is a key position within HARMAN International, responsible for overseeing the software development lifecycle in the planning, development, launch, and closure phases of a program. This individual will serve as the primary technical interface for software development between internal stakeholders and customers.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and manage software development and testing, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
- Actively manage software deliverables and report status against project plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Solution Management, Software Project Leads, Acoustic Engineers, and Customer Program Managers, to drive successful project delivery.
- Build and maintain customer relationships at a working team level, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
- Make strategic decisions regarding software build content and timing, identifying dependencies and roadblocks.
- Gate the software development release lifecycle to ensure customer acceptance of each release.
- Proactively manage program risk, identifying potential issues and coordinating meetings with stakeholders to address concerns.
- Evaluate project management processes and metrics to track and measure project success.
- Represent the program internally to senior management during program, quality, and operations reviews.
- Lead the program in adhering to standard HARMAN processes and maintain program and customer-related documentation.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for internal and external project software communications.
- Resolve conflicts between internal and customer engineering groups.
- Ph.D. degree in Engineering or a related field, with 4 years of experience in corporate or academic research, or a Master's Degree in the same field with 8 years of experience in research and development, or a Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience.
- 10-15 years of systems engineering, requirements management, or related background.
- Proven technical leadership within the technology industry or automotive industry.
- Ability to articulate vision and influence decision-making outcomes with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and customers.
- Experience managing external and internal vendors/partners.
- Strong communication skills to explain technology concepts to non-technical audiences.
- High-quality mindset to develop software with best industry practices.
- Practical experience in system design, hardware/software design, and real-time embedded applications.
- Previous experience in all phases of the software development process.
