About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our High-Voltage (HV) Physics team at Hitachi Energy, a leading provider of electrical infrastructure solutions. The successful candidate will work on the development of next-generation HV systems and products, leveraging cutting-edge simulation tools and lab equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of HV insulation technologies for future HV devices and systems, integrating them into green power systems.
  • Analyze new environmental friendly insulation materials, understanding their long-term behavior and critical properties, and effectively communicate with colleagues, customers, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Lead R&D projects with global research community participants, participating in experimental work or planning in electrical insulation laboratories, and carrying out advanced data analysis.
  • Connect expertise in material science with HV physics and other technical areas, working in cross-competence teams to solve research challenges for future energy systems.
  • Contribute to creating ideas and proposals for new R&D projects with colleagues, documenting results in technical reports, presentations, and IP.
  • Embody Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for actions while caring for colleagues and the business.

Requirements

  • A background in physical chemistry, material science, or similar, with a PhD, or an MSc combined with relevant working experience.
  • The ability and interest to work as a technical project leader, coordinating global colleague activities.
  • A team player with excellent collaboration skills to achieve great results.
  • Working experience with electrical insulation materials and/or high-voltage apparatus or equipment is a bonus.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.
