Senior Sales Engineer

A pivotal role in our sales team, the Senior Sales Engineer is responsible for identifying and expanding new business opportunities while delivering Equinix solutions to existing clients. Key aspects of this position include:

Primary Responsibilities
  • Technical Consulting and Sales Support
    • Develops an in-depth understanding of customer needs, challenges, and technical requirements, mapping them effectively to Equinix solutions.
    • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Equinix products and services, enabling seamless delivery of pitch materials.
    • Analyzes complex situations and data to provide expert advice on moderate scope problems.
    • Promotes full support for medium to large customers, including global deployments, by providing exceptional technical expertise.
  • Solution Design and Deliverables
    • Collaborates closely with assigned Sales account executives to provide technical solution design expertise.
    • Exercises sound judgment to determine the most suitable solution, adhering to established procedures and best practices.
    • Assists in preparing RFI/P/Q documents as requested by Sales Representatives.
    • Takes ownership of independently delivered work for the customer, ensuring exceptional quality.
  • Customer Service
    • Maintains professional communication with internal and external customers through verbal and written interactions.
    • Leverages pre-sales efforts to drive sales success for all company products.
    • Provides technical support during sales presentations, customer meetings, and trade shows.

Additionally, this role requires:

Business and Market Expertise
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of Equinix's datacenter, network, and cloud products and services.
  • Possesses industry knowledge and familiarity with the competitive landscape.
Collaboration / Communication
  • Develops new business opportunities and grows existing customer relationships through effective collaboration.
  • Motivates internal teams (CSM, OM, IM, Ops, etc.) to ensure smooth project transition from pre-sales to post-sales.
  • Fosters a positive team culture and promotes good presentation skills.
Team Leadership
  • Supports organizational initiatives and team projects to drive improvement.

QualificationsEssential
  • A degree in Engineering or IT, or equivalent experience.
  • Substantial customer-facing experience within the internet, cloud, or telecommunications services industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of networks and/or cloud computing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal management guidance.
  • Strong problem-resolution skills.
  • Capacity to explain related technical issues, with a thorough knowledge of products, potential applications, and associated technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, facilitating professional communication and interaction with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Crafting high-quality business proposals aligned with agreed-upon customer needs and expectations.
  • Ability to project manage, multitask, and follow through.
  • Adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Exceptional English written and oral communication skills.
