As Media Relations Manager, you will work with the media relations of the company nationally as well as globally. An important focus will be to support and develop the company's communications functions across the group.

Your Role

The function has a central role in the brand, marketing, and sales process of the company. It is vital to have an interest in, overview, and insight into the product offering, the driving forces of the markets, and society in general – to move and develop the position forward.

You will be part of a team of five persons, working daily to initiate, produce, and distribute content and messages across different channels. The team members are located in Sweden and the UK. It is important to maintain a rapid and proactive approach to handling the press function, where relations with media and other stakeholders are constantly developed. The role reports to the Head of Media Relations and is a member of the Group's Press Centre team. The function works closely with different departments across the organization. The position is based in Sweden, and travel should be anticipated.

The key responsibilities of the role are to:

  1. Implement group media relations strategies to promote and strengthen the brand, supporting business objectives and goals of the function.
  2. Write and distribute group press releases, manage the group press hotline, and coordinate local and international media requests.
  3. Build and maintain relationships with key journalists in Sweden and internationally.
  4. Provide senior management support related to media management.
  5. Coordinate cross-functionally internally.
  6. Provide media and spokesperson training.
  7. Contribute to and be part of the issues management and crisis organization.
Your Profile

Saab is searching for an ambitious, structured, and results-driven communicator, who is skilled in the creation and execution of external affairs. The candidate should have a proven track record, a university degree, and at least five years of relevant experience in media relations – several of those in an international and commercial environment - at a public company or an agency. Investor relations communications experience is a merit. High strategic capability and good judgment in tactical decisions are needed.

The candidate has:

  1. A proven ability to be both proactive and reactive with national and international media.
  2. The ability to deliver compelling verbal communications - even on contentious topics - with confidence and sensitivity.
  3. Proven experience in issue and crisis communications management.
  4. Proven experience in successfully building and driving broad media programs.
  5. The ability to conceptualize and package messages and stories.
  6. A strong ability to handle writing and editing of communications, including press releases, Q&As, media briefs, and communications platforms.
  7. A genuine interest in and understanding of the changes in the communication environment.
  8. Excellent Swedish and English skills, both written and spoken, are mandatory.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around security protection. For positions requiring security clearance, additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
