Head of MGA and Portfolio Solutions, Zurich Nordic

Zurich is a leading insurance company specializing in non-life insurance for local and international businesses in the Nordic market. We are seeking a dynamic leader with strong portfolio management skills to fill the role of Head of MGA and Portfolio Solutions.



  • The role involves overseeing MGAs across the Nordics, focusing on profitability, growth, governance, and reporting.
  • Responsibilities also include managing portfolio solutions, governance, reporting, and driving business development.


The Head of MGA and Portfolio Solutions will directly report to the Nordic CEO and collaborate with the Nordic CUO as part of the Nordic Underwriting Management team.



Job Description
  • Lead the Nordic strategy on MGAs, emphasizing growth and profitability.
  • Ensure alignment with the CI MGA team to meet Nordic's needs effectively.
  • Implement policies, procedures, controls, and monitoring for sustainable profitability and governance targets.
  • Conduct performance reviews within Nordic branches and ensure pricing alignment with underwriting strategy.
  • Establish risk assessment, response, control activities and monitoring for underwriting operations.

Key Accountabilities
  • Manage technical and operational performance with a focus on underwriting results.
  • Collaborate across functions to leverage insights for effective decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to underwriting governance, compliance principles, and Zurich's underwriting approach.
  • Provide guidance to steer and safeguard the business effectively.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, both internal and external, as required.
  • Drive product management and development within the function.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experienced in managing General Insurance portfolios as an underwriter, financial analyst, or actuary.
  • Demonstrated leadership in team management.
  • Preference for regulatory alignment experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of insurance industry, underwriting markets, and Nordics region.
  • Expertise in insurance concepts, financial services regulations, and corporate strategy.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong strategic and operational leadership abilities.
  • Deep understanding of processes, governance, and portfolio management.
  • Effective relationship building and communication skills.
