Ready to shape the future of AI at one of Scandinavia's largest non-life insurers? Join Tryg's newly established Nordic AI Hub and set the standards for scalable, compliant, and impactful solutions. As our new Principal Data Scientist and colleague, you'll drive innovation, governance, and excellence across 5M+ customers.
About the role | Principal Data Scientist
As our new Principal Data Scientist, you will take a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the standards for AI development across Tryg Group. Collaborating closely with platform teams, business leaders, and tech experts, you will ensure the consistent, efficient, and compliant advancement of AI solutions. Your responsibilities will cover the definition and evolution of AI methodologies, architecture, and governance, serving as the vital link between development teams and strategic business priorities.
You'll collaborate with a dynamic team of experienced professionals, driving alignment across teams and enabling knowledge sharing across all domains. This role provides a unique opportunity to influence the group-wide AI strategy, accelerate the scaling of impactful solutions, and cultivate a culture of excellence and innovation in AI development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and maintaining AI development methodologies and standards, ensuring best practices in validation, deployment, and compliance.
- Establishing robust architecture frameworks for AI solutions, including reference architectures and common patterns.
- Aligning features, tools, and roadmaps across multiple domains and teams.
- Facilitating collaboration with platform teams and supporting the adoption of new technologies.
- Participating in group-wide AI governance processes, including decision-making forums and compliance initiatives.
- Building and sharing knowledge with AI Leaders in Tryg through training, documentation, and community engagement.
What we offer:
- The opportunity to be a central figure in building a modern, ambitious, and informal team culture focused on value creation and business impact.
- The chance to further develop and refine your methodology and leadership toolbox through hands-on experience in a high-priority strategic initiative.
- An environment that prioritizes both personal and professional growth, with a strong feedback culture and regular team-driven learning sessions.
- Direct engagement with diverse functions and colleagues across the entire Tryg organization, including executive and business leadership.
- Ownership of key processes such as methodology definition, architecture alignment, governance, and capability building.
- The ability to influence and shape the future of AI development at one of Scandinavia's largest non-life insurance companies.
About you | Technical AI expert for scalable infrastructure
We imagine you as a proactive, structured, and collaborative professional with a strong academic background in a relevant field such as engineering or computer science. You bring deep technical expertise in AI, data science, and software engineering – ideally with experience from large, legacy heavy organizations with complex IT and data landscapes like Tryg.
You can leverage your experience defining best practices and standards across teams. You thrive in environments where you can mentor and coach others, promote knowledge sharing, and raise the bar on engineering practices (CI/CD, MLOps, monitoring). You are comfortable navigating both strategic and operational challenges, balancing the need for robust compliance and governance with practical, scalable solutions.
You understand the importance of data privacy, bias testing, and fairness, and you are committed to developing models that are auditable, explainable, and compliant with regulatory requirements. You are not just a specialist – you are a team player and a normative leader, able to influence and align stakeholders across domains. You enjoy working independently as well as in teams, and you actively seek out and challenge perspectives to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Fluency in English is required; proficiency in a Nordic language is considered an advantage.
