Uppsala, Uppsala, Sweden Rapidity Space Full time

Company Overview:

Rapidity Space is a leading space engineering services provider based in Uppsala, Sweden dedicated to pushing the boundaries of space exploration and innovation. Our team is made up of experts in various fields including software engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, and more. We are seeking a talented and passionate project manager to join our team of dedicated professionals who share our passion for space technology. With 100% focus on space, our goal is to facilitate and expedite our customers' and partners' development projects and business opportunities to make them thrive in an ever-so-exciting industry environment.

Job Description:

As a Project Manager at Rapidity Space, you will lead allocated projects throughout their lifecycle, from planning and execution to delivery and customer acceptance. You will work closely with our technical teams and customers to ensure successful outcomes in terms of quality, schedule, and budget.

Your projects may span flight software, on-board systems, ground support equipment, or advanced R&D initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership role where you combine strong project management discipline with technical understanding and the ability to inspire and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage assigned projects across all phases, ensuring successful delivery to agreed scope, quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Plan project activities, define milestones, and maintain accurate progress tracking and risk management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and partners, maintaining clear and proactive communication.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources, including engineering teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, technical, and procedural requirements.
  • Support the preparation of bids, proposals, and estimates together with technical leads and business development.
  • Provide clear project reporting, KPIs, and forecasts to internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices and workflows across the company.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, physics, or another relevant technical field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in project management, ideally within the space, aerospace, or high-tech sectors.
  • Understanding of project management principles including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with both technical teams and customers.
  • Experience managing or supporting technically complex projects.
  • Proficiency with project tools such as MS Project, Jira, or equivalent.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Swedish is an advantage.

Desirable skills:

  • Familiarity with space or aerospace project lifecycles (e.g. ECSS, ESA, or commercial satellite development).
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams that include software, electronics, or systems engineering.
  • Understanding of agile and traditional (waterfall) project management methodologies.
  • Awareness of financial aspects of projects — cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Experience in smaller organizations or startups where flexibility and initiative are key.

We are looking for:

You're an organized and motivated engineer and project manager with a genuine passion for space technology. You enjoy translating complex technical challenges into clear plans and guiding teams toward successful results. You value structure, communication, and teamwork, but also thrive in an environment where initiative and flexibility are essential.

Finally:

  • At Rapidity Space, you'll work on projects that directly contribute to future space missions, from early studies to mission delivery. You'll collaborate with a highly skilled, down-to-earth team that values creativity, precision, and the joy of solving difficult problems together.
