Local Category Manager

A global leader in industrial and technology solutions is seeking a driven and analytical Local Category Manager to strengthen its Strategic Sourcing organization.
As a Local Category Manager, you will be responsible for developing and steering the sourcing strategy within your assigned category. You will play a key role in supplier management, performance improvement, and cost optimization—while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams across the globe.
This position offers the chance to influence decisions, build strong supplier relationships, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-moving industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
Lead sourcing and supply base management activities for your designated category
Develop and execute a local sourcing strategy, continuously monitoring market trends and identifying new potential suppliers
Conduct supplier evaluations covering quality, delivery reliability, and commercial performance
Drive cost-saving initiatives and lead commercial negotiations, including price changes and contract management
Secure accurate contract documentation and maintain relevant data in IS/IT systems
Support sourcing activities related to new product introductions
Collaborate closely with R&D, Quality, and Purchasing teams, as well as global colleagues in Asia and the US
Contribute to the development and implementation of SCM processes and policies together with global process excellence teams
Act as a power user for SCM IS/IT applications (e.g., SAP Ariba)

University degree in Engineering or Business, ideally with a focus on Supply Chain Management
Minimum 2 years of experience in supply chain, preferably in strategic or tactical roles within a global manufacturing environment
Solid understanding of purchasing tools and practices, with advanced Excel skills
Basic understanding of industrial commodities, global supply markets, and core manufacturing processes
Professional proficiency in English; Swedish language skills are highly appreciated
Meritorious: Experience with SAP, Ariba, or similar systems.
