Position: Commercial Insurance Underwriter at Zurich Nordic

Zurich is recognized as a premier provider of specialized non-life insurance solutions for both local and international enterprises in the Nordic region. We are seeking a business-oriented and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Commercial Insurance Underwriter.

Role Overview

As a Commercial Insurance Underwriter, your primary responsibilities will include pricing and evaluating risks associated with business insurance. You will play a vital role in driving profitable outcomes by delivering optimal insurance solutions that benefit both our clients and the organization. Your involvement will extend to internal training within the risk domain, insurance offerings, and mentoring Junior Underwriters, providing guidance and support in their professional development. In this capacity, you will have the authority to underwrite complex risks and high-value limits, while also delegating simpler risks to junior team members, assisting them in their growth.

Your role will encompass working with brokered business for both new and existing clients. You will maintain ongoing communication with brokers, fostering strong relationships with various brokerage firms. Additional responsibilities include product management, analyzing new submissions, and contributing to Zurich's mission of being the leading insurance provider in the Nordic market. You will also engage in activities related to our risk selection criteria and report directly to the Head of Underwriting Middle Market.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate who possesses a strong business acumen and analytical skills to comprehend business risks and intricate insurance requirements. You should be self-motivated and organized, capable of articulating complex concepts in a straightforward manner. Your personality should reflect trustworthiness and a collaborative spirit, both internally and externally. A positive and open demeanor is essential for fostering a productive work environment.

To excel in this position, you should have a solid understanding of commercial insurance, including relevant terms, pricing strategies, and regulatory frameworks. A relevant academic qualification or equivalent experience, along with several years of work in the insurance sector, is required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Several years of professional experience in the Insurance Industry
  • Significant experience in property underwriting is preferred
  • Comprehensive experience in risk analysis and selection, pricing for new business and renewals
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, economics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Swedish and English are essential
