  • Maintain Roche's license to operate by ensuring the company aligns with legal and regulatory requirements, including antitrust, data privacy, public procurement, anti-bribery regulation, employment, and product liability.

  • Ensure the effectiveness of the Legal and Compliance function in overseeing and managing all legal and compliance matters, including risks and opportunities, contracts, litigation, engagement, and communication with external legal, regulatory, or compliance bodies.

  • Partner with the business in tender processes by identifying and analyzing opportunities and mitigating legal risks; leading contract negotiations with key customers and/or partners.

  • Advise on new aspects of the law to ensure continuous compliance, taking into consideration new business models and digitalization (e.g., data sharing arrangements, e-commerce).

  • Manage corporate law matters (e.g., board of directors meetings, appointment of directors, granting of powers of attorney, corporate law operations, commercial leases, delegations of authorities, inter-company agreements).

  • Serve as the single point of contact for all compliance and legal matters and, as needed, coordinate and assign actions to external counsels while ensuring quality and containing costs.

  • Ensure the execution of local compliance initiatives: training, processes policies, standard operating procedures, communication, and monitoring of compliance matters.

  • Timely handle all compliance issues representing a material compliance or reputation risk.

  • Coordinate and align with the Roche Legal and Compliance network to source and share standard methodologies regarding business challenges and opportunities.

Key Qualifications and Responsibilities

  • You have the ability to provide accurate, high-quality, strategic yet practical and concise legal advice.

  • You are an advisor and thought partner enabling informed strategic choices within an acceptable legal risk profile.

  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with senior customers.

  • You have the ability to challenge the status quo constructively and proactively contribute to improvements in the business and in the legal department.

  • You are self-motivated, strategic thinker, good communicator, and hands-on teammate thriving in a fast-paced environment.

  • You have strong analytical and decision-making skills.

  • You have a strong eye for business and pragmatic problem-solving skills in the context of legal, compliance, or regulatory requirements.
