Ecologist in Aquatic Systems

About the Job

Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet is a leading international centre for research and education within the field of ecological systems. We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Ecologist in Aquatic Systems to join our team.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic group of researchers and educators working on cutting-edge projects related to microbial ecology, aquatic systems, and limnic systems.

The position is located at the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment, which offers a unique multidisciplinary and interactive environment with access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, including equipment for microscopy, metabolomics and molecular biology, and access to additional research infrastructure through SciLifeLab.

We collaborate with other departments at SLU, as well as nationally and internationally with several strong research centers, contributing new socially relevant knowledge about how aquatic ecosystems change and what causes these changes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and lead internationally successful research projects in microbial ecology, aquatic systems, and limnic systems.
  2. Teach primarily in microbial ecology, bioinformatics, and molecular biological analyses, as well as in other areas at all educational levels.
  3. Supervise doctoral students and participate in interdisciplinary activities.
  4. Collaborate with other SLU research teams to strengthen interdisciplinary activities and develop national and international networks with academia, public authorities, industry, organizations, and society.
  5. Apply for external research funding and contribute to the strategic development of the department, faculty, and university.
Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must meet the following qualification requirements:

  1. PhD.
  2. Research expertise in the subject area.
  3. Teaching expertise and ability to integrate research into teaching.
  4. Good knowledge of English.
