Postdoctoral Researcher in Metabolomic Epidemiology of Asthma

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Karolinska Institutet, Institute of Environmental Medicine. The successful candidate will work on analyzing metabolomics and lipidomics data to understand the biochemical dysregulations that drive the development of asthma.
About the ProjectThe project aims to identify the key molecular drivers of different sub-types of asthma using data from the U-BIOPRED project and metabolomics data from multiple intervention trials. The successful candidate will take the lead in integrating metabolomics and lipidomics data with other omics (e.g., proteomics, transcriptomics) as well as clinical phenotyping data.
About the TeamThe Unit of Integrative Metabolomics is a multidisciplinary team focused on the use of metabolomics to perform molecular phenotyping of individuals in response to disease or environmental stressors. We have a new purpose-built mass spectrometry facility and multiple mass spectrometers and the associated sample processing equipment as well as dedicated wet and dry laboratory space.
Responsibilities- Lead the analysis of metabolomics and lipidomics data to identify key molecular drivers of asthma sub-types
- Integrate metabolomics and lipidomics data with other omics (e.g., proteomics, transcriptomics) as well as clinical phenotyping data
- Develop and implement data analysis pipelines to identify biochemical pathways associated with specific disease sub-phenotypes
- Collaborate with international researchers to identify markers of the onset as well as resolution of system-based stress
- Ph.D. in epidemiology, data science, or statistics
- Excellent quantitative and applied research skills in data analysis
- Demonstrated proficiency in statistical language (e.g., R, Matlab)
- Good bioinformatics knowledge of metabolomics
- Strong oral and written communication skills
