Research Opportunities

We are recruiting three postdoctoral researchers to join our team at Karolinska Institutet. Each project offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of cellular immunotherapy for cancer treatment.

Project 1: Optimizing CAR T Cell Therapy

This project aims to improve CAR T cell therapy for solid tumors by optimizing CAR T cell production, choice of T cell source/subset for CAR production, and CAR design improvements. You will be responsible for producing CAR T cells and evaluating their effector functions in vitro and in vivo, as well as developing orthotopic animal models of cancer.

Project 2: Developing Tools for Identifying Tumor-Specific T Cells

This project involves developing a tool to easily identify tumor-specific T cells and further improving CAR T cell therapy by optimizing CAR T cell production and T cell source. You will work on advanced flow cytometry, human and murine T cells, cell culture, T cell functional assays, mouse tumor models, analysis of single-cell omics datasets / bioinformatics, and some degree of molecular biology.

Project 3: Investigating Gamma-Delta T Cells

This project focuses on investigating gamma-delta T cells, particularly in the context of ovarian cancer. You will be responsible for collecting patient-derived material, isolating lymphocytes from peripheral blood, ascites, and tumor, and using a range of immunological and biochemical techniques to characterize these cells and understand their environment.

Requirements for all projects:

  • PhD in immunology, cancer biology, or a related field.
  • At least one first-author publication in a recognized peer-reviewed journal.
  • Experimental knowledge of immunological methods, including flow cytometry and animal models of cancer.
  • Effective communication in English, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent communication skills and capacity to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in parallel.
