Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden Karlstad University Full time

At Karolinska Institutet, we are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our innovative ERC-funded project focused on resolving embryonic cell fate lineages with unprecedented resolution.

Company Overview

Karolinska Institutet is one of the world's leading medical universities, conducting successful medical research and offering a wide range of medical education in Sweden. Our university provides a creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests, allowing researchers to exchange knowledge and experience with various scientific fields within medicine and health.

Our close relationship with healthcare providers is essential for creating groundbreaking top-quality education and research. As a state university, we offer several benefits through our collective agreement, providing a unique opportunity for professional growth and development.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with access to world-class facilities and expertise in developmental biology, genetics, and computational analysis. The researcher will employ advanced techniques, including single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and lentiviral barcoding, to reconstruct lineage trees and uncover cell fate dynamics.

The researcher will be expected to optimize and automate in utero nano-injection methods to target multipotent cells at early developmental stages, enabling precise manipulation and lineage tracing of germ layer derivatives. This project builds on our establishment of in utero injection to manipulate the nervous system and barcode lineage tracing neural crest.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A PhD degree in developmental biology, transcriptomics, or a similar relevant research area.
  • Skills in RNA omics, bioinformatics, mouse work (Felasa certification), especially surgery, embryonic dissections, and/or programming/engineering of robotic equipment.
  • A high degree of independence and motivation, as well as the ability to work in a team given the collaborative nature of the project.
Benefits

As a researcher at Karolinska Institutet, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of projects, collaborate with leading experts in your field, and contribute to groundbreaking research that can lead to improved human health outcomes.

Our university offers a comprehensive benefits package, including access to world-class research facilities, training opportunities, and professional development resources.
