Job Overview

This position leads the implementation and management of our Internal Trade Compliance Program and strategic export authorization management at our Swedish site.

The Global Trade Compliance Site & Licensing Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful implementation and management of Global Trade Compliance requirements across all functional areas at our Swedish site. This includes serving as the primary point of contact for site leadership and operations personnel and possessing a comprehensive understanding of global trade compliance disciplines to drive compliance.

This role demands strong business acumen, active engagement, and forward-thinking involvement in business operations. The GTC Site & Licensing Manager will play a pivotal role in the strategic planning process and execution of daily activities at our Swedish site. Identifying potential risks and compliance challenges, developing compliance solutions, and establishing metrics and Key Performance Indicators to monitor trade activities will be crucial.

Key Accountabilities

  • Guarantee legal compliance and provide export support within government regulations, including export authorization advisory.
  • Function as an export regulations expert and offer guidance and practical solutions related to export control compliance requirements to business stakeholders.
  • Support trade compliance internal and external audits at our Swedish site.
  • Collaborate with the GTC investigation team in reviews and corrective action management.
  • Proactively identify common themes and address export compliance issues.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with business senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Conduct denied party screening;
  • Recognize compliance training needs and provide GTC-related trainings internally.

Export Authorizations Manager – Strategic Export Authorizations Management

  • Evaluate the adequacy of export license coverage in accordance with Swedish and EU export regulations for trading export-controlled products;
  • Accurately identify export license requirements for international shipments, primarily for ML-controlled products;
  • Organize the application of export authorizations with the Swedish licensing authorities;
  • Review service and sales orders for required export clauses and promptly identify errors or omissions;
  • Coordinate with US counterparts regarding US re-export license requirements (ITAR and EAR);
  • Maintain efficient record-keeping of export authorization documentation, update databases, track in-process and pending licenses applications, and utilize them accordingly;
  • Prepare and manage license reporting requirements;

Essential Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Swedish, EU & US Export Laws and Regulations, including end-use/end-user assurance requirements and procedures.
  • Experience in High Technology, Defense, or Aerospace environments.
  • Background in auditing and/or U.S. consent agreements for implementing trade compliance initiatives.
  • Expertise in dealing with Swedish military and Dual Use products and multilateral control regimes.
  • Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data and preparing concise and timely reports.
  • Superior communication skills; ability to break down complex issues into clear language.
  • Experience in resolving intricate problems through collaborative methods. Previous program/project management experience is highly desirable.
  • Leadership skills with a strong willingness to lead, innovate, and be proactive. Able to act as a resource for others in resolving complex problems and issues.
  • Able to function constructively under stress and pressure when faced with heavy workloads and deadlines; able to make informed and timely business decisions.
  • Advanced computer skills: SAP (GTS module), Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. SharePoint experience is beneficial.
  • Masters degree in Law, International studies, Business management, or related fields (or equivalent experience in a similar capacity for a high-tech/defense firm with large shipment volumes and license management).
  • Swedish or EU citizenship.
