The HVDC technology has been in use for over 60 years and is employed to transmit power over long distances, integrating renewables into the grid with minimal losses. We utilize various systems, including overhead lines, underground, and submarine cable systems.

We are seeking new R&D Engineers in Digital Electronics hardware design. In this role, you will develop electronics' systems that control and protect our High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) power stations. The position is based in Ludvika or Västerås, Sweden, with up to 49% remote working, depending on the task.

You will be joining a fast-growing team of hardware design engineers who aim to cooperate effectively and focus on their tasks; developing the best possible technical solution for our MACH platform. Our work environment is open, and you will be encouraged to do what you excel at every day.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain electrical products & components comprising the brain of the HVDC system.
  2. Work requires a deep understanding of digital electronics and embedded systems, both theoretical and practical tasks. Requirement management, development of design specifications, and documentation are also part of the work tasks.
  3. Create robust designs within cost and time limits and with a product lifecycle management perspective.
  4. Work in a modern environment where rapid prototyping and productification take place. We have tools and labs for the complete electronic hardware development cycle, from early prototype testing to final system verification.

Requirements
  1. You have a wide knowledge within the area from a university education, preferably in Electrical & Electronics engineering and/or embedded systems fields, Master's or higher degree is a merit.
  2. Experienced and comfortable regarding development of digital electronics hardware and long experience with industry-standard schematic capture and PCB layout tools, Altium Designer is preferred.
  3. Experience on processor architectures, signal/power integrity, simulations, and measurement techniques. Experience on thermal management, power and timing budget calculations; EMI, EMC, ESD, grounding, and low noise design on board level.
  4. Proficiency in board bring-up and debugging skills; Experience with lab equipment and test setups for signal measurements; Experience on product/system verification and environmental testing.
  5. Knowledge of electronic hardware development life cycle and obsolescence management, and preferably experience on working with cross-functional hardware, software, and system architecture teams.
  6. Considered meriting: experience with 12+ layer and HDI PCBs, FPGA coding (Verilog/VHDL), the ability to write test software for hardware verification, experience with PLM tools, and experience from reliability analysis such as MTBF, FMEA, and FTA.
